Approach

We take our name from the room where books were made.

A scriptorium was a place devoted to one thing: making books that could be trusted. Copyists, rubricators and binders worked in sequence, and nothing left the room until the last pair of eyes had passed it.

The formats have changed - InDesign, LaTeX, JATS XML, EPUB - but the discipline has not. One team, one contract, and a named person accountable for every stage between manuscript and printer.

Principles

Three rules, every project.

Editorial care

Respect the author's voice and meaning while improving clarity and consistency.

Reader focus

Support understanding, navigation and access across print and digital formats.

Clear collaboration

Expectations agreed in writing, one named contact, and no surprises at the printer.
